Characterised for some years now by important openings to external institutions, over the last quarter of the 20th century, the psychiatric hospital of Mombello was able to strengthen its relationships with the surrounding territorial organizations which turned out to be fundamental in the care of patients during the post-Basaglio period.

In fact, in the \u201860s and \u201870s it experimented on some care treatments that would have become the basic practice in other Italian asylums, only in the years to follow. The definitive shut down of the psychiatric hospital would have come about only in 1996 when, during the session of 20 December 1996, the Regional Council of Lombardy approved the project to close the former \u201cAntonini\u201d mental asylum of Limbiate under the LHU n. 32.
\nFrom the approval of Law n. 180 dated 13 May 1978 to the years immediately following the formal closure of the asylum complex, there were numerous designations for use and transformation of the facility. In the second half of the 1990s in fact, various activities other than those related to psychiatric treatments were started up in the former asylum facilities. Among these, psycho-social and socio-healthcare services, carried out by the psycho-social Centre, the Residential Therapy Center, protected Communities, the LHU Polyambulatory and Centre for alcohol addiction; sports services for the entire territory such as soccer fields, gyms, Italian bowling grounds, roofed tennis courts and open air tennis courts etc.; recreational activities such as a cinema and bar, social cooperatives. Some of these activities were temporarily held while others were intensified and developed with the passing years.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
